Work for Yourself@50+

Community Partners

Together we're creating economic opportunity for older adults

Work for Yourself@50+ has more than 30 local partners in urban and rural communities across the country.

More than 37 million people over the age of 50 are at risk of not having enough income to meet their basic needs. Work for Yourself@50+ makes it easy for older adults to explore their self-employment opportunities and increase their financial stability.

Why it Matters

By 2024, a quarter of the workforce will be over 55, and of these, a third will be 65 or more. And for many over 50, self-employment becomes a necessity as traditional job opportunities are scarce and the value of retirement savings continues to decline.

As a Work for Yourself@50+ partner, you will help AARP Foundation reach an underserved demographic and build economic opportunities for vulnerable older adults.

How it Works

AARP Foundation partners with local organizations to host Work for Yourself@50+ workshops across the country. The two-hour workshop walks participants through the Work for Yourself@50+ Toolkit and helps participants navigate self-employment opportunities.
